ADCS: Early Childhood Education, B.A. or B.S.

The online bachelors degree completion programs in Early Childhood Education are designed for the work-experienced adult with some prior college-level coursework. Those without prior coursework may start in our online Associate of Science in Early Childhood Education program and then continue on for a BA or BS.

    Choose your Path: 

    The BA degree can prepare you for a career working in early childhood settings but does not prepare you for state certification, which is required to teach in public school settings. However, the BS degree includes student teaching resulting in Pennsylvania State Certification, as approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE).

  • Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education (BA)

    The Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education program can prepare you to work at Head Start, a childcare center or even Keystone Stars. The BA path does not have a student teaching component, so no certification is included, yet the the skills and knowledge acquired provide career flexibility within the early childhood education field.

  • Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education (BS)

    The Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education is an online degree completion program with ample room for transfer credits. The BS path provides Pennsylvania certification in PreK-4 as approved by the PA Department of Education (PDE)

    Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education 

    Total Credits 128

    The BA path can be completed fully online or some classes may be taken in-class for those who prefer that format. Students can be full-time or part-time giving the busy student convenience and flexibility. The curriculum contains a strong early childhood core and an education-related liberal studies component leading to a quality baccalaureate degree.

     As a BS in Early Childhood Education student, support is provided by your adviser the entire way from start to graduation, including student teaching your final semester. Our field experience coordinator will assist you in obtaining a suitable and rewarding PreK-4 student teaching site. Our program helps you obtain the necessary training and education to apply for PA state certification once all criteria is met. Your career goals are important to us, which is why our program offers the needed support, convenience, and flexibility you deserve and need.

    Students often transfer in credits from other accredited post-secondary schools or military credit to fulfill this requirement area. Some students also choose to add a minor and use the free elective area to apply minor credits.

     

     

    Post Bac Certification

    Students already possessing a bachelor's degree may be eligible to complete the early childhood certification coursework. This online program prepares students for teaching certification (K-4) in the State of Pennsylvania only.

    Graduation from the BA program have entered careers such as: Head Start Coordinators, Daycare Directors, Early Childhood Specialists, and Teachers (non-certification positions). Centers and Schools hiring our graduates include: Head Start Programs, Keystone Stars, The Learning Camp, Daycare Centers, and more!

    Graduates from the BS program pursue careers as Lead Teachers, Elementary Teachers, Pre-K specialists, Daycare Center Directors, Head Start Coordinators, and more. The BS in ECE offers graduates opportunities to work for public or private schools, tutoring and learning centers, early childhood programs, Head Start Programs, Keystone Stars, and more. While some graduates secured new jobs, others were promoted at their current center or moved into a Lead Teacher position upon graduation. Some of the employers who have hired out graduates include The Learning Lamp, Indiana Area School District, Blair County Head Start, Cenclear, Keystone Star, area school districts, PA Head Start Programs, and more!
