    Job/Internship Fair (JIFE) Spring 2017

    Saint Francis University, Mount Aloysius College, and South Central PA Area Health Education Center are sponsoring the 2017 Job/Internship Fair Extravaganza at Mount Aloysius College on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. 

    Employers will have the opportunity to network with a diverse student population comprised of various majors, such as; business, healthcare, government, human services, law, criminal justice, science and technology.

    This event is open to all students and majors from Saint Francis University, Mount Aloysius College and surrounding colleges and universities. Members of the community and alumni are also encouraged to attend. 

     

     

    Grad Assistantships

    Graduate Assistantships are offered at Saint Francis University in a variety of academic departments and administrative offices throughout campus.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's degree required  
    • Acceptance to one of the university's graduate programs as a full-time student  
    • Each department may have additional requirements  
    • Once hired, completion of Graduate Assistant (GA) contract through Academic Affairs - terms to be determined between the sponsoring department and the Graduate Assistant

    TUITION REMISSION

    • Graduate assistants are eligible for full tuition remission for up to 9 credits per semester. 
      Summer varies according to each department. 
    • Fees, books and additional credits are the responsibility of the graduate assistant.

    • Submit a Graduate Assistantship application and resume to Career Services.

Whether you want to work in your host country or homeland, this database-search and job listing service will help you.  Click on 'students' on our home page. Create an online profile. Visit the 'Student Center'.
    • CareerFYI - Join the thousands of other career searchers that are finding their perfect career with the help of CareerFYI's weekly updates.
    • CareerJet - Careerjet is an employment search engine for the united states.  It allows you to search a growing selection of jobs listed on company sites as well as job sites in one go, saving you time and the trouble of having to go to each site individually.
    • Career Magazine - This is an online career resource in a magazine format with news articles, daily job updates, employer profiles, discussion groups, a resume bank, and classified ads. It combines job postings from USENET newsgroups into a searchable database. You can specify preferred job locations, skills, and title, and obtain a list ranked by best fit (relevance) or most recent job postings. Also has a fee-based employer service called the National Career Search.
    • CareerBuilder - CareerBuilder features extensive job listings, employer profiles, a resume bank, online job fairs, a college connection to help graduates find entry-level employment, and a full-text search of jobs listed in regional and occupational newsgroups in the U.S. and abroad. There is no fee to post a resume or search the resume bank. Employer profiles are grouped alphabetically by company name to speed your browsing. CareerBuilder offers helpful articles and links on resume writing, wage and salary surveys, job fairs, relocation resources, market trends, professional associations and volunteer opportunities. Other linked resources are organized by job category such as corporate, entrepreneurs, telecommuters, women, minorities, entry level, military to civilian, physically challenged, and college students.
    • Care.com - Free resource for student to find part-time work as a babysitter, nanny, tutor or other caregiver.
    • Careers On-Line - Careers On-Line provides job search and employment information for people with disabilities. A federally-funded project based at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, its resources include an adaptive technology products and resources database and the online Job Accommodation Handbook from Career Connections.
    • CareerSite - CareerSite takes a unique approach to online job searching and recruiting by having job seekers and employers create profiles of their credentials or job opportunities. For no fee, job seekers can search and respond to openings online or wait for their "Virtual Agent" to notify them by e-mail of opportunities that match their profile--a timesaving feature. This is a good site if you're concerned about who sees your online resume. CareerSite will only send it with your permission to employers with matching job needs.
    • City/TownInfo.com - Free career web resource that lists salary info, top cities, top industries and 1000 real- world career stories in a Career Descriptions Section.
    • CollegeGrad.com - #1 entry level job site for college students and recent grads. Thousands of entry level jobs and internships, salary info for thousands of careers, direct links to the top 500 entry level employers.
    • Firefighter Careers - Career information and resources for those aspiring to become a firefighter.
    • GettingHired - A national employment and social networking portal that connects job seekers with disabilities with employers committed to hiring them.
    • GradSource - Comprehensive source of information on graduate programs with searchable database of more than 1,000 grad schools including contact information and website links.

    • Indeed.com - The most comprehensive search engine for jobs and internships giving instant access to millions of jobs and internships from thousands of sources, including Monster, HotJobs, CareerBuilder, The NY Times, Fortune 500 corporate websites, etc.
    • Internet Career Connection - The Internet Career Connection, a service of Gonyea and Associates, Inc., contains both a job bank and a resume/talent bank. The site charges a fee for employers to post job openings but does not charge job seekers accessing the job bank. However, job seekers must pay to post their resumes. Access to the resume/talent bank is unrestricted. In addition, the site provides a computerized personality assessment service and a listing of books, software programs, newsletters and other resources.
    • JobWeb - JobWeb's "map" shows you in one screen how the site is organized, giving you ideas where to go first. JobWeb contains both a job database and an employer database with over 450 employer links which you can browse as well as search. Also featured here is the magazine Job Choices Online.
    • Pennsylvania Jobs - Free employment and job searching for students and local job hunters- full-time, part-time & internships.
    • Pittsburgh Regional Alliance - Pittsburgh Region's Occupation and Workforce Link -- a career resource for job seekers.  Search for employment and internships in the Pittsburgh region by keyword.
    • SnagAJob.com - Website dedicated to helping students find part-time and seasonal jobs.  Students can search and apply for jobs online for free.  Thousands of jobs nationwide are listed from a variety of employers.  Jobs range anywhere from marketing to food service to sales to web site programming.  Easily find the perfect part-time job without wasting valuable time collecting and completing multiple applications.
    • Spherion - Spherion delivers recruitment, outsourcing and technology solutions that make the workplace work better.  Spherion can provide you with exciting career opportunities with quality organizations.
    • SportsPersonnel.com - This web site lists positions in training, coaching, marketing and more.  Resume can be posted for a fee.
    • True Careers - True Careers - Love Work, Love Life features a no-fee resume and job bank as well as many online informative articles on resume and cover letter writing and interviewing. The Web site is sponsored by Adams Media Corporation and describes their job search and career information books and software.

      Recent or soon-to-be college graduates will find this site handy. You can read--but not download--the entire book, College Grad Job Hunter, here or order your personal copy directly from Quantum Leap Publishing.Start by scanning the table of contents, or save time by searching for keywords.
    • Electronic Recruiting News
      This online newsletter is aimed at professional recruiters but it's an interesting read for anyone involved in the employment field. The Electronic Recruiting News from Internet Business News (IBN) features five articles each week, with access to archived articles from past issues. Past articles included "Poetry as a Recruiting Tool," "How To Recruit Online," and "Net As Recruiting Tool." If you're conducting an Internet job search, it gives you a new perspective from the recruiter's end of the deal. But be sure to also look at First Steps in the Hunt, IBN's online "almost daily" newsletter for the job seeker.
    • Hoover's Online
      Hoover's Online provides information on more than 10,000 companies, with in-depth company profiles on over 2,700 of them. It also features a listing of more than 4,000 corporate Web sites and hundreds of corporate job listing sites. Hoover's, Inc., is a recognized resource of business information.
    • JobSmart - JobSmart, the Northern California Job Search Guide by the Bay Area Library System, features links to job banks, job hotlines, career centers and libraries, in addition to over 120 salary surveys. Look here also for a variety of information on resume writing, the hidden job market, high tech, and career guides.
    • The Public Register's Annual Report Service (PRARS) - ere's a real timesaver if you're deep into company research -- as many job seekers are. The Public Register's Annual Report Service (PRARS) provides company financials, including annual reports, prospectuses or 10k's, on over 3,200 public companies. The best part is there is no charge for the service. You can order information on several companies at once from this Web site or call their toll-free number. The listings are conveniently organized alphabetically or by industry.
    • The Riley Guide: Employment Opportunities and Job Resources on the Internet - Considered by many to be one of the best career and job information clearinghouses on the Internet, the Riley Guide also provides extensive information on use of the Internet in your job search. Job resources are broken out into several categories such as arts and humanities, computing and technology, and government jobs, to name a few, with additional links for state, national and international resources. All links are well-annotated and include the site's URL, a handy feature that can save time later. Don't expect a flashy site here. The design is intentionally simple for ease and speed of loading. Started in September 1993 by Margaret Riley at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute, the site is now located at JOBTRAK.
    • U.S. News & World Report Colleges & Careers Center - Features at this Web site from U.S. News Online include college rankings, online college admissions, articles on careers and self-employment, links to financial aid sites, online discussion forums on a variety of topics, a parents' guide, and campus culture stuff.       Part of the Nation Job Network, this page features positions in public schools, as well as many colleges and universities.

      A web site of American Fidelity which provides you links to primary, montessori, secondary, and magnet schools as well as school districts, state departments of education, and employment listings. You may search by state to find the home page of a school or a school district. This site also has links to international schools which you may search by continent.       This page, maintained by the University of Kentucky College of Education, does not have links to all 50 states yet, but it does have job resources for  many of them.

      STS supplies qualified substitute teachers to contracted school districts on a per diem basis in Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware school districts.

      This site contains a list of job openings, a database to which you may submit an electronic resume, and other education resources to link to.
    • Teachnet
      This site provides a wide variety of resources for teachers including lesson plans by subject area, classroom management ideas, communicating with parents, and a teacher's web forum. You may also read about creating a portfolio and preparing for an interview.   
    • U.S. Department of Education Homepage
      This is the official website for the U.S. Department of Education.  It is a great resource for seniors who want to research current trends in education or learn about new initiatives on the horizon.  Also provides links to valuable job searching resources for prospective teachers.

    GOVERNMENT:

    • America's Job Bank
      The America's Job Bank computerized network links the 1,800 state Employment Service offices. The nationwide listings in America's Job Bank contain information on approximately 250,000 jobs representing all kinds of work, most of it for full-time, private sector employment. You can search the listings by menu, keyword or occupational code. America's Job Bank is one of the few that has no charge to either employers who list their job vacancies or to job seekers.
    • Bureau of State Employment
      Pennsylvania non-Civil Service employment
    • Federal Jobs Digest
      Federal Jobs Digest claims to have more federal job vacancies than any other source. It neatly organizes job openings by categories such as engineering, science and math, and trade and postal. For a fee, the matching service will analyze which kinds of federal jobs you may be eligible for but it's not quick--allow 3-4 weeks to get your results by mail.
    • FedWorld Federal Jobs Search
      This database allows you to search abstracts of open U.S. Federal Government Jobs. It's updated every Tuesday through Saturday at about 9:30 a.m. Eastern time.
    • The Internet Job Source
      This site contains extensive links to State and Federal Government jobs as well as links to Fortune 500 companies and newspapers and magazines online. The Internet Job Source also features "Hot Sites of the Week", a review of other selected sites of interest to job seekers.
    • JobBank USA
      JobBank USA lets you search not only its own job database but many others like America's Job Bank, Career Magazine, and CareerPath, either directly or through handy links. If you're doing a serious job search, this is a quick way to get started. Employers who subscribe to JobBank USA may search the resume bank. There is no charge for posting a resume
    • Making the Difference
      Student-centered federal government site featuring hot jobs and cool internships, where the jobs are, academic guides, resources, etc.
    • Pennsylvania State Civil Service Commission
      Provides up-to-date information to job seekers looking to obtain employment with the Pennsylvania  State Civil Service.  This page is updated daily and includes listings of all current jobs available as well as internships for college students.  You can download job announcements, applications and additional information necessary to find employment.
    • State and Local Government Sources on the Net
      Provides links to state, regional, county, and city homepages. You are able to access information about a wide variety of government issues from political action to human services programs to tourist sites. This page also provides links to national associations serving state and local governments. You may search by key words (such as "employment") to find links dealing with specific issues.
    • United States Office of Personnel Management
      The U.S. government's official site for jobs and employment information provided by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. You may search for current job openings in several areas including Professional Career, Entry Level Professional, Senior Executive, and Summer. The job search engine allows you to target your search to meet specific occupational titles, geographic preferences, and salary requirements.
