Dr. Vitko has taught at Saint Francis University since 2005 as clinical adjunct faculty before joining the Department of Nursing full time in 2009. Dr. Vitko’s clinical background is in critical care nursing; she continues to maintain bedside practice at a Level I trauma center in the Intensive Care Unit and continues to hold certifications in Critical Care Nursing and Trauma Nursing. Additionally, she is certified as a Clinical Nurse Leader. Dr. Vitko’s clinical history has prepared her and keeps her current to teach pathophysiology, pharmacology, and critical care nursing to undergraduates, and advanced pathophysiology, pharmacology and assessment to MSN Leadership/Education students. She also teaches several other courses in different levels in the undergrad programs, as well as mentors students in research and publication.
Her research interests include infection prevention, reduction of stress, and reducing antibiotic use.
