The Shields School of Business and its eight academic programs were officially conferred their "Reaffirmation of Specialized Business School Accreditation" by the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) at its Annual Conference held last week in New Orleans, LA.
Although it earned its actual accreditation credential last June, the IACBE officially recognized Saint Francis University at its banquet on Thursday, April 19, 2018. While 25 business schools received reaffirmation of their specialized business school IACBE accreditation during the past 12 months, only a few of them fully met the nine principles of excellence in business education without notations of improvement being required. Saint Francis University received "unconditional" accreditation of its business programs.
The business school accreditation spans seven years and gives Saint Francis University external validation that it has high quality business programs. Doctors Randy Frye, Margaret Kealey, and John Miko co-chaired a process that prepared the Self-Study in June 2016 and hosted a successful site visit in November 2016, along with the contributions of faculty and staff members in the school.
Saint Francis University became an educational member of the IACBE in 1998, was approved for conditional accreditation in 2001, and received full accreditation in 2007. Saint Francis University is the only higher institution based in in the Cambria-Blair County region that offers business programs that have earned specialized business school accreditation. Business schools are not required to seek outside specialized business school accreditation.
