Now that Cambria County in Pennsylvania is in the "green phase" of reopening, the School of STEAM at Saint Francis University is pleased to announce that judges for the annual Pennsylvania Statistics Poster Competition have traveled to campus to review the entries for the 2020 competition, originally scheduled earlier in March.
A total of 402 posters were received with 135 in grades K-3, 143 in grades 4-6, 35 in grades 7-9, and 89 in grades 10-12. Cash prizes were given with $24 for fourth place, $48 for third, $72 for second, and $96 for first in each grade category. All the prize amounts are evenly divisible by 2, 3, or 4, to evenly split prizes for groups of students submitting a poster. Every student creating a poster that is recognized, including honorable mention, receives a certificate.
The state competition is sponsored by professional organizations across the commonwealth including: Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Association of Teachers of Mathematics of Philadelphia and Vicinity, Mathematics Council of Western PA, Harrisburg Chapter of the American Statistical Association, Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Statistical Association, Philadelphia Chapter of the American Statistical Association, and the Laurel Highlands Math Alliance.
