10 Reasons You Should Attend SOAR

  • 1. Take your student ID picture.

Your Flash Card is more than your student ID—it is your key to your residence hall, lounges, and many academic buildings. It also carries your SFU meal plan, covering meals at Torvian and flex dollars for Frankie’s, the Padua Express, and Adamucci Café.

    2. Receive your Fall Schedule.

You need to know what classes you’re taking in the fall, and receiving your schedule now gives you plenty of time to plan your weekly schedule.

    3. Meet your Academic Adviser.

Your academic advisor is trained and available to guide you through your classes at SFU. Your academic advisor will work with you to ensure that you’re taking the right classes this semester and every semester afterwards.

    4. Go from accepted student to fulltime student.

While Admissions staff will be on hand during all SOAR events, these days are meant to introduce you to the folks in Student Life, Residence Life, and your academic school. All of them look forward to welcoming you to the Red Flash Family and working with you over the next four years.

    5. Get the biz on student billing.

The Business Office will discuss when and how to pay your students bills, which is important to prevent any future issues and remain registered as a full-time SFU student.

    6. Receive your summer reading book.

This will be your first college assignment! By getting your free copy of the book at SOAR, you’ll have a jump start on it and be better prepared for when it is used in your classes this fall.

    7. Learn about Resident and Commuter Life.

You probably have a lot of questions about living on or commuting to campus, and Resident Life is here to help. You’ll learn what to bring, what to leave at home, where to park, what fun activities there are around campus, and anything else you need to know to make the most of your life as an SFU student.

    8. Meet your Orientation Counselors before the fall.

Your OC’s are upperclassmen who are excited to show you around campus. They’ll be your mentors, campus guides, fellow classmates, and the first friends you’ll make when you arrive to SFU.

    9. Meet your class!

You might not know them yet, but your fellow freshmen will become some of your best friends for life. They’re in the exact same situation as you: they’re starting a new chapter of their lives and they’re eager to meet new people!

    10. Stop by the campus bookstore and pick up your SFU gear.

Get the gear and show off your Red Flash pride! For family members, let the world know you’re proud of your Saint Francis University student.
