Rural Education Alliance for Leadership (REAL Institute)

  • Saint Francis University, Pennsylvania Leadership Development Center, and the IU8 invite you and your leadership team to become a member of the REAL Institute.

    The Rural Education Alliance for Leadership, REAL, Institute, is designed to help local communities and educational agencies come together in efforts to support the needs of rural schools. Through discussions, forums, and guest speakers school district teachers and members of the Institute gain working knowledge about the issues rural communities are facing and the resources necessary to take action. The REAL Institute is a voice of change for rural school districts. A primary goal of the Institute is to engage with the right stakeholders in discussions to better inform policy and education.

    Digital Technology Leadership in Schools 

    In this 44 hour approved PIL program, leaders will follow a framework to build their understanding of the importance of vision and its relationship to digital leadership.

    Time/Place: August 15-December 17, 2019; Online + face-to-face at Saint Francis University

    First meeting will be held August 15, 2019, at Saint Francis University.

    Cost: $500/participant, $450/participant with REAL membership

    Fall 2019 Course II

    Leadership Frameworks for Transforming Education

    This 40 hour approved PIL program is designed to guide school leaders through the  five essential domains of leading: authentic, visionary, relational, quality and service leaders.

    Time/Place: August 15 - December 17, 2019; Online + face-to-face at Saint Francis University

    First meeting is August 15, 2019 at 8:00 am, Location TBD.

    Evidence Fair: Wednesday, December 18, 2019, Saint Francis University, at 4:00 pm.

    Cost: $500/participant, $450/participant with REAL membership

  • REAL Highlights

    Fall 2018 REAL Institute participants. This group includes administrators from the following schools: Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School, Conemaugh Valley School District, Everett Area School District and Penn Cambria School District.

     REAL 2018 Year End 

    The REAL Institute, a partnership between Saint Francis, PLDC, and IU8, hosted the evidence fair in completion of the first ACT 45 course entitled, Leadership Frameworks for Transforming Education. This 40 credit hour PIL program was designed to guide school leaders through the five essential domains of leading: authentic, visionary, relational, quality, and service leaders. Dr. Pat Crawford facilitated this course throughout the semester which concluded last evening with an evidence fair of growth and achievement. Congratulations to all our participants.     REAL Forum Web

    Pennsylvania State Representatives Judy WardTommy Sankey, and John McGinnis, as well as State Senator, John Eichelberger, attended a forum, hosted by Saint Francis University’s Rural Education Alliance for Leadership (REAL) Institute. The forum focused on issues impacting rural schools and how institutions can better work with their local communities to meet these challenges and reinvigorate rural education.
